Medical Information and First Aid Procedures at Falmouth School
At Falmouth School, the health and safety of our students are paramount. To ensure a secure and supportive environment, we have established comprehensive procedures for gathering and utilising medical information, coupled with a vigilant approach to First Aid.
If your child has a medical condition, it is imperative that you complete our online form, a link to which is available at the bottom of this page and also in the forms section of our website. This ensures that we have accurate and current information regarding your child's needs, enabling us to tailor our support effectively.
Additionally, Falmouth School has transitioned to a 'nut-free school' policy. This decision aligns with our commitment to safeguarding students and staff with nut-related allergies. The canteen no longer sells nut-related products, and we kindly request that all students, staff, and visitors refrain from consuming or bringing any nut-containing items onto the school premises.
In terms of medication, students are not permitted to carry any on their person or in their bags on a day-to-day basis. This policy is in place to mitigate potential risks, as a different person may encounter and consume the medication in error. We appreciate your cooperation in bringing any necessary medication to the school, where our First Aid team will store it securely. Exceptions are made for items like EPI pens, emergency kits, or inhalers linked directly to a student's Individual Health Care Plan. These are considered exceptional circumstances and are carefully managed.
For First Aid, our school boasts a large number of trained staff in both First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work. This training is consistently monitored, and refresher courses are provided as necessary. There is always a First Aid trained staff member on duty throughout the school day, equipped with a radio for quick response in emergencies.
