The Pupil Premium is additional statutory funding that schools in England receive to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and narrow the gap between them and their peers. The ‘disadvantaged’ category includes pupils who have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point during the last six years, and children looked after for at least six months (CLA).
At Falmouth School we believe every pupil, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to flourish in their academic and non-academic endeavours. To this end, we constantly seek out best practice in education to ensure we are making effective use of the Pupil Premium funding.
Neither the Department for Education, nor any government agencies, dictate how the Pupil Premium money should be spent. The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) recommends the funding is used in three broad areas: promoting high-quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies such as pupil well-being, behaviour and attendance.
At Falmouth School we are led by the best available evidence in all that we do. Therefore, our Pupil Premium strategy adheres to this three-pronged approach advocated by the EEF.
